We encourage auditions from artists who self-identify as members of under-represented communities. We cannot engage equity members. All performers are unpaid. We will have evening technical rehearsals from May 27 to May 30 and performances from May 31 to June 8. There is a matinee on June 2. June 3 and 4 are dark. We are looking for strong, trained voices, dancing/movement background and acting ability to bring these characters to life. We strongly suggest that you familiarize yourself with the script and music. Audition times: Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018 from 6:00 to 10:00 pm Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018 from 6:00 to 10:00 pm Callbacks: Callbacks –Saturday, December 15, from 1:00 – 4: 00 pm. Movement will be handled at callbacks. (Not everyone will be required to attend; those who will be required to attend will be contacted individually.) Audition Location: HI-Edmonton Hostel, 10647 81 Ave Callback Location: Charity Solutions, 14920 128th Avenue Rehearsals: Tuesday and Wednesday 7:00 – 10:00 pm, Sunday afternoons 1:00 to 5:00 pm Rehearsals start the week of March 3, 2019. Character work will be scheduled individually with actors in major speaking roles during the month of February during the last two weeks in February. (This will consist of a 2 hour one-on-one session with the director and assistant director). Production Personnel: Mary-Ellen Perley - Director Daniel Belland - Music Director Barbara Mah - Choreographer Courtney Dewar - Stage Manager What to expect: You will be asked to sing a prepared song preferably from A Little Night Music (with the exception of Send in the Clowns) or any Sondheim piece and then read a side from the script - both may correspond to the role for which you are auditioning. Being familiar with the script is advantageous. What to Bring: 1) Please prepare a song as indicated above 2) Please have the song memorized and have your song performance ready (i.e. tell the story, don’t just sing the song). 3) We will accept either sheet music to be used by our accompanist or voiceless tracks on mp3/iPhone. 4) Please send a headshot and resume in advance to [email protected]. 5) NO ACAPELLA SONGS, PLEASE Roles: Desiree Armfeldt: 35 to 45 a once-successful actress, Voice range: F#3 – Ab5 Fredrika: in her teens-should read as 13 Vocal range: C4 – Eb5 Fredrik Egerman: a lawyer 40s to 50s Vocal range: A2 – E4 Henrik Egerman: (Fredrik’s son) a brooding young man of 19 Voice range: G3 – B4 Countess Charlotte Malcolm: (long suffering wife of the Count) 35 to 45 Voice range: G3 – F5 Petra: (the Egerman maid) jolly and easy going 22 to 25 Voice range: F#3 – F5 Frid: Madame Armfeldt’s butler 25 to 30; very loyal Malla: Desiree’s maid mid 30s with Desiree constantly (non-speaking) optional character Bertrand: Madame Armfeldt’s page and Page: 30 – 40 THE QUINTET (The Liebeslieder Singers): group of five singers that act as a Greek chorus. Mrs. Nordstrom: Ab3-E6 (sustained) Coloratura Soprano Mrs. Anderssen: Ab3-Bb5 Lyric Soprano Mrs. Segstrom: Ab3-Ab5 Mezzo Soprano Mr. Erlanson: Ab2-Bb4 Tenor Mr. Lindquist: G2-Ab4 Baritone The roles of Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm, Anne Egerman and Madame Armfeldt have been cast prior to this process.
