We encourage auditions from artists who self-identify as members of under-represented communities. We cannot engage equity members. All performers are unpaid. We will have evening technical rehearsals from November 3 to November 7 and performances from November 8 to November 17. There are evening performances each day with the exception of November 11 and 12. There is a school matinee performance on Wednesday November 13. Saturdays and Sundays will include a matinee (no evening performances on Sundays) We are looking for strong, trained voices, dancing/movement background and acting ability to bring these characters to life. Please also note that characters with costume transformations will require ability to lift and carry costumes for a prolonged period. Audition times: Sunday, June 16, 2019 from 6:00 to 10:00 pm Monday, June 17, 2019 from 6:00 to 10:00 pm Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 6:00 to 10:00 pm Callbacks: Callbacks –Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 1:00 – 5: 00 pm. Movement will be handled at callbacks. (Not everyone will be required to attend; those who will be required to attend will be contacted individually.) Audition Location: HI-Edmonton Hostel, 10647 81 Ave. Callback Location: Foote in the Door Rehearsal Hall: 17523 107 Ave Rehearsals: Monday and Wednesday 7:00 – 10:00 pm, Sunday afternoons 1:00 to 5:00 pm Rehearsals start officially on Wednesday, August 28. Music rehearsals will begin during the summer of 2019 at a schedule to be determined based on cast availability. What to expect: Please prepare 1.5 minutes of an up-tempo song that shows character, (please do not select a song from the show, Disney songs are encouraged). Additionally please prepare a 1 min max comic monologue from a modern play (after 1980). What to Bring: 1) Please have the song indicated above memorized and have your song performance ready (i.e. tell the story, don’t just sing the song). 2) We will accept either sheet music for our accompanist or voiceless tracks on mp3/iPhone. 3) Memorized comedic monologue as indicated above 4) Please send a headshot and resume in advance to [email protected]. 5) NO ACAPELLA SONGS, PLEASE Available Roles: Any roles not listed below have been cast prior to this process. Gaston: A pompous and dim-witted “ladies man” - Baritone Lefou: a dim-witted lackey of Gaston - Baritone Monsieur D’Arque: proprietor of the lunatic asylum - Tenor Cogsworth: An English major-domo of the castle who is becoming a mantel clock - Baritone Lumiere: A French maître d’ who is becoming a candelabra - Baritone Babette: A maid who is becoming a feather duster - Soprano Chip: Mrs. Potts’ son, who is becoming a teacup – note: Foote in the Door will not be engaging minors for this show- Role will be played by a Treble voice. Madame de la Grande Bouche: An opera singer who is becoming a wardrobe - Soprano Ensemble: Narrator, Old Beggar Woman, townspeople, silly girls, servants (in the castle) Note: The roles of The Beast, Belle, Mrs. Potts and Maurice have been cast prior to this process.
